Howdy Partners! The 22nd Millport Country and Western Festival is set to be the best yet from 2-4 September.

The family friendly event had a new committee on board at last year's spectacular, and was highly praised for its new look with top family entertainment, so this year's rootin tootin' event is eagerly anticipated.

And the hard working committee hope to make sure Millport stays the best in the west with more family fun for all, on top of the traditional live music with 15 bands, two discos, and line dance workshops.

But the festival is all encompassing, and a celebration of American culture itself, with jive classes, pony rides, lasso lessons, a native American stall and lots more besides.

The island is already getting ready to be transformed to Nashville, with stars and stripes flying proudly around the island, and shop signs regenerating to wild west country over the coming weeks.

Sheriff Angela Giorgetti of the Festival Committee said: "Our hard working group are committed to bringing more family fun to the island for the visiting cowboys. There will be plenty to keep children occupied including face painting, bouncy castles, and lots more. You will even see Elvis and a unicorn!

"The spectacular, and eagerly awaited, grand parade on Saturday at 2.30pm promises the favourite characters and lots of surprises, and have something for everyone."

"There is also the fastest draw competition at the Garrison at 4pm, followed by the hot dog eating competition at 4.30pm."

Live music includes Samba Ya Bamba, while Harley Davidsons and classic tractors will also be on display. Rock till you drop Sunday jive classes take place on Sunday afternoon, and should also be unmissable fun and entertainment. Yee hah!

Weekend wristbands £10, day wristbands £5 and donation for use of the campsite is £15. For more details, go to the Millport Country and Western facebook page, or millportcountryandwestern.co.uk
