Letter writer Alex Gallagher criticises the Scottish government over 850 cancellations and 500 delayed sailings on the Largs to Cumbrae ferry route last year - and calls for change.

Dear sir,

It is reported that there were 850 cancellations and 500 delayed sailings on the Largs to Cumbrae ferry route last year and that this route was not the worst in the service with the Ardrossan to Arran route being even worse.

Surely it is time for even the most committed SNP voter to admit that the islands and ports have been severely let down, even betrayed, by our SNP representatives. North Ayrshire has an SNP MP, SNP MSP and SNP led council, but the services to our communities have been failing on an epic scale while they have supposedly been in charge.

Nicola Sturgeon famously declared that “the cause of independence transcends everything else”. Who knew that she meant your transport services, your doctor's appointment, your children's education and any other vital service you may rely on?

Now that it's clear that 'independence' isn't happening any time soon, it's time for a change. The Nationalists have had their chance and they have failed. Isn't it time to dump the SNP and replace them with someone who actually cares about you, your family and your quality of life?
