Parkdean Resorts, the UK’s leading holiday park operator, recently welcomed MP for Inverclyde, Ronnie Cowan, to Wemyss Bay Holiday Park.
The team at Wemyss Bay gave Mr Cowan a tour of the facilities at the park, and discussed how Parkdean Resorts is committed to caring for its Parks, People, and Planet to create a positive environmental impact on nature and resources.
Wemyss Bay employs over 150 people in peak season and welcomed approximately 27,000 visitors last year.
The park also has over 400 holiday home owners who regularly visit the park and local area with their families throughout the year.
In 2022 the park received a cash injection of over £600,000 which went towards accommodation and facilities upgrades, improving guest experience and ensuring holidaymakers keep coming back to the Firth of Clyde year after year, spending money in local shops, attractions, pubs and restaurants, and supporting the communities that rely so heavily on tourism.
Colin Pearse, regional director of Parkdean Resorts, said: “It was great to meet with Ronnie to understand how we can work together in the coming years. Ronnie Cowan MP added: “It was a pleasure to meet Colin Pearse and General Manager Mandy MacWhirter during my recent visit to Wemyss Bay holiday park, and we had an open and honest discussion around a number of topics which had been brought to me.
“The park is tucked away up the back of Wemyss Bay and despite its close proximity to the A78, the ferry terminal and the award winning Wemyss Bay railway station it maintains a rural feeling which enables the customers to relax and enjoy the facilities provided. It was good to hear of local people that are employed on site and to witness the spin off to the local economy.
“I have great memories from caravan holidays in Portmahomack as a child and I expect many a child will be creating great memories at Wemyss Bay over the years to come.”
Last year, Parkdean Resorts launched 25 environmental, social and governance commitments which it will achieve by 2025, including reducing CO2 by 25%, a 75% reduction in waste to landfill, and the publication of an annual report detailing how it will care for its Parks, People, and Planet.
