Additional dates to a talented Largs theatre director's show on the heady days of Britpop have been added to the tour.

Due to incredible demand for the Greenock based show Battery Park, extra Beacon Arts Centre dates have been announced.

With a five and four star reviews already in the bag, the Battery Park tour has got off to a flying start.

Set in Greenock, this tale of a Britpop inspired band that very nearly made it will come back to the Beacon Studio on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 10 and 11 to rock the room all over again.

Written and directed by Largs theatre director, composer and playwright Andy McGregor, Battery Park is about a raucous female-fronted Britpop band from Greenock in the 1990s recording their debut album and preparing for the biggest gig of their lives, supporting Oasis at the Barrowlands.

Battery Park then, at the last minute, disappear abruptly from the scene and are never heard of again. Jump ahead to today and a young student is chatting to a slightly more jaded Tommy, the leader of the band, who is reminiscing as they try to unravel exactly what happened to Britpop's next big thing.

Part theatre and part live gig, the brilliant cast perform original songs live and tell the story of the incredible rise and abrupt fall of Battery Park - the biggest band you've never heard of.

Discussing the show, Andy McGregor said: “I’m really excited to finally be bringing this play to the Scottish stage. The idea has been with me for many years, loosely based on my own experience of being in a rock band that, ultimately, failed.

"It’s a really exciting cast and team and I think the concept of live music and storytelling will make for a really fun and interesting night out. It’s definitely a play that comes from the heart and I think there will be a lot in it that audiences will relate to.”
