TEMPORARY traffic lights on a busy stretch of road in Largs will be in place later this week.
Resurfacing work will be taking place on a stretch of the A78 from 8pm on Thursday, February 29 until 6am on Friday, March 1.
The decision to schedule the work to take place overnight is a bid to prevent a repeat of the gridlock that gripped the town when similar works took place during the day earlier this month.
Traffic Scotland says the work will affect stretches of the A78 between Gogo Street and the Haylie Brae, and between the Firpark Plantation road and Kelburn Glen.
Road maintenance company Amey say they expect little or no delay during the carriageway repatching works.
The daytime work earlier in February brought traffic in the town to a standstill, with some motorists reporting that it had taken them an hour to make the journey from Largs to Fairlie.
