Largs Amateur Operatic Society raised the roof once more at Barrfields with a terrific production of the much loved Rodgers and Hammerstein classic 'Carousel'. 

The stage spectacular revolves around carousel barker Billy Bigelow, played by Andrew McRae, whose romance with millworker Julie comes at the price of both their jobs.

Billy attempts a robbery to provide for Julie and their unborn child and after it goes wrong, he is given a chance to make things right.

The show's musical numbers are also much-loved and includes the hits: If I Loved You, June Is Bustin' Out All Over, and - perhaps the best known of all - You'll Never Walk Alone

Largs and Millport Weekly News: The show also had many family connections, including Lynsey Ewing and her 19-year-old daughter Lily, as Carrie Pipperidge and Julie Jordan respectively.

Other connections included Andy Park, as Mr Enoch Snow, and his his 10-year-old son Harris as one of the children, while another mother-and-daughter duo, Morag and Elizabeth Robertson were part of the chorus.

The show was directed by Irene Cameron, whose husband David plays Mr Bascombe, while Bob Randall, who plays the Captain, was joined by his wife Anne, another member of the chorus and wardrobe mistress behind the scenes.

This was Largs Operatic's 77th live show since the group was formed in 1946. The show ran across four days, including a matinee showing on Saturday.

It was Kayla McGregor's first production as musical director of a Largs Amateur Operatic Society show, and she said: “I have loved every second working with this incredible cast.

"The passion that everyone brings to each show is electric and it has been a beautiful production!”

"There were many emotions felt by all cast and crew come the final curtain on Saturday evening, but for now it’s a big thank you to all who came to see our show."
