Homes in Millport are currently without mains electricity after a power cut in the area.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) confirm that the outage has been caused by an underground network and were made aware just after 7.30am this morning.

The current outage is affecting the supply to around 129 homes in Miller Street, Cardiff Street and surrounding areas on the island.

There is currently an engineer on site to repair the issue and the supply is aiming to be restored by 1pm today (Match 21).

They said: "The cause of this power cut is a fault on our underground network. This is the most common type of fault we see and our teams are very experienced in dealing with these issues.

"In most cases, our engineers are able to restore power by simply replacing a fuse at the local substation, however, it the fault is severe, this may results in us needing to make full repairs which can take longer."
