People in Largs are being invited to get involved  and help with the running of a popular local club.

The A.D. Cameron Centre in Lade Street is known locally as a great social and meeting venue for the town's older residents, with a busy weekly schedule of events.

The centre is open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Thursday and from 10am-2pm on Fridays, and provides a 'drop in centre' for both members and visitors.

Daily newspapers are available and there is a small library, and a new patio area.

People can join in with various regular activities which take place including a 'Knit and Knatter' club, art group, prize bingo, cinema club, and keep fit sessions.

Other activities include lunches, holidays, day trips and visits to the theatre.

Now, the centre is on the lookout for new committee members who can spare a few hours to help in the running of the centre and attend monthly meetings.

A spokesperson said: "Our current committee give up a lot of our own time to keep the centre and the activities running. We also depend on a small team of volunteers who man our tea bar Monday to Friday.

"We are currently looking for new committee members who can spare a few hours to assist in the running of the centre, attending monthly meetings, helping arrange and set up for activities and chatting with members.

"We are also looking for tea bar volunteers for a couple of hours per week. Duties include serving tea and coffee, keeping the kitchen area tidy and chatting to our members."

To be a member of the centre you need to be 60 or over, however there is no age restriction to be a part of the committee or to volunteer.

Anyone interested is asked to pop in to the centre during its opening hours or message Carole Summers on Facebook.
