Three points dropped by Largs against Pollok on Saturday, in a game I thought they should have done better in.

There was lots of effort, but missed chances and carelessness I thought were their downfall.

Pollok took their chances, but in my opinion poor defending by Largs made it easy for them to score all three goals.

I think the Largs performance was summed up by the last kick of the ball, where a player passed the ball straight out the pitch.

Despite the defeat Thistle remain in 11th place in the table with none of the teams below them playing thanks to the weather.

Benburb is always a tricky place to go at the best of times but I am sure Largs will be looking to bounce back; it has the makings of another exciting encounter.

On Friday I watched the Celtic v Rangers women's clash in the cup with Rangers winning 3-2.

It was a good exciting game won in the last minute by a penalty to Rangers - but before any conspiracy theories are mooted, Celtic had two penalties in the game.

The game certainly had lot of drama and entertaining attacking play with an exciting conclusion.

With good performances by lower league teams, such as Airdrie and Partick Thistle, against top flight opposition in the Scottish Cup on Saturday, does anyone think there is an argument for an increase in the teams in the top league? Sixteen teams, maybe?

My opinion is it would give more significant games throughout the season and would also allow movement in the Lowland and Highland Leagues, giving access to some fresh faces from the pyramid.

One problem I do see though would be that it would only mean two Rangers v Celtic matches in the regular league season - and would the TV companies accept that?

Increasing the number of teams in the league might also improve the level of football, addressing the concerns raised by Ross County boss Derek Adams recently. Those comments certainly sparked a debate - but his post-match interview on Saturday sounded to me like it came from a man who doesn't want to be there.

Even Spartans scored a 'worldie' before falling to a late winner from Hearts in the live TV clash on Saturday lunchtime.

The shock result of the round was Bonnyrigg's late winner against Falkirk, who have been unbeaten in the league all season - a result which would certainly have burst a few coupons.

Elsewhere, Ayr United are on the lookout for a new manager and Scott Brown has been linked with the vacancy - an appointment which would certainly add to the excitement for their fifth round Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox.
